Privacy Policy

Overview

Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker (“the App”) is a local-first sleep tracking and gentle alarm application developed and published by AlrightTech (“we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker Android app (package com.alrighttech.restsmooth), the iOS app, and the Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker web companion. It explains what information the App processes, how it is used, and how you control it.

In short: the App does not require an account, does not collect your sleep data on our servers, does not sell or share your personal data, and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

Information stored on your device

Depending on the features you enable, the App may store on this device: sleep session timestamps and scores; movement samples from the accelerometer; optional short ambient audio snippets when microphone tracking is on; noise-calibration profiles; alarm preferences; lifestyle sleep notes you enter; and app settings such as theme and tracking mode. This information is stored in the App’s private storage on your device and is not transmitted to AlrightTech.

How information is used

Information is processed on your device only to provide the App’s features: estimating sleep stages and a sleep score, labelling sound events such as snoring, coughing, or talking with an on-device model, choosing a wake moment within your alarm window, and showing your sleep history. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to these features.

Microphone and bystanders

If you enable microphone tracking, the App may capture brief ambient clips when sounds rise above your calibrated noise floor. Audio is analysed on your device and is never uploaded by the App. Those clips can include bed partners, pets, or others in the room. Please inform anyone who may be recorded. You can choose accelerometer-only tracking to avoid microphone use.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or sensitive data with third parties. The App does not automatically upload sleep data, audio, or notes to a Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker server or to anyone else. If you use Export, you choose to share a JSON or CSV file through your device’s share sheet, and the recipient you pick handles it under their own terms.

Third-party services

Some optional sleep sounds (such as recitations) are streamed from third-party audio hosts, including mp3quran.net, quranicaudio.com, and islamic.network. When you play one of these sounds, your device connects to that host, which receives standard connection information such as your IP address and device/network details under its own privacy policy. No sleep data, audio recordings, or notes are sent to these hosts. Bundled sounds play offline without any network request. The App is distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store, whose own privacy policies apply to downloads and updates.

Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

• Microphone — optional overnight sound tracking.
• Physical activity / body sensors — reading motion sensors to estimate restlessness and light sleep.
• Notifications, exact alarms, and full-screen alerts — firing your alarm on time and showing it on the lock screen.
• Foreground service and wake lock — keeping tracking running overnight while the screen is off.
• Do Not Disturb access — optional, so your alarm can sound while Do Not Disturb is on.
• Battery optimization exemption and run at startup — keeping alarms reliable after a restart or under power saving.
• Internet — streaming optional sleep sounds only.

You can deny or revoke any permission in your device’s system settings; some features will then be limited.

Data security

Data is kept in the App’s private storage, which the operating system isolates from other apps. Because nothing is sent to our servers, there is no server-side copy that could be exposed. Files you export leave this protection, so store and share them carefully.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual sound clips from a night’s summary, delete all local data from Settings → Delete All Data, clear the App’s storage in your system settings, or uninstall the App, which removes all of its data. AlrightTech holds no copy of your data, so there is nothing further for us to delete. You may still contact us at info@alrighttech.com with any deletion question.

Web companion

The Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker web companion only displays sleep history you choose to import. Imported files are processed in your browser and stored in that browser’s local storage; they are not uploaded to our servers. You can remove them with Clear All Imported Data on the Import / Export page or by clearing your browser’s site data. The web companion never starts overnight microphone or accelerometer sessions.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Do not use the App to record others without appropriate consent.

Health disclaimer

Restsmooth: Sleep Tracker is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment of sleep disorders. Scores and labels are wellness estimates based on on-device sensors.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s behavior changes. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
